On Sunday we will celebrate the ministry of Father Cheng as he transitions from delivering our Adult Education program to Theologian in Residence and Honorary Associate Priest.

Finding God in silence or in solitude is perhaps much more difficult when, because of a crisis, you didn’t choose these states of being.

From meal time prayers and hymns, to the alphabet and lullabies, music has the chance to suffuse anything we do, if we commit to it.

St. James’ Day this year will be very special in Santiago as the feast day falls on a Sunday. 

On Sunday we said a fond farewell to Nicholas Quardokus, who is leaving us to take up the position of Canon Organist and Director of Music at Grace Church Cathedral, South Carolina.

In the wake of last Thursday’s storm Father Turner reflects on the gift of water and all it symbolizes.

It has been eleven years since July 4 was a Sunday and, as the Prayer Book allows, we will keep Independence Day at Saint Thomas with proper readings and national hymns. 

Many of us were horrified to see the awful images of the devastating fire that swept through the Dobson Pipe Organ Company works this week. Our heartfelt prayers go out to Lynn Dobson, John Panning, and all who worked on our own Miller-Scott Organ. 

As I write this, the State of New York approaches its goal of a 70% vaccination rate for adults and I already notice a change in the mood of people who live and work near the Church, the Choir School, and the Rectory.

This year, we ended the Choir School term on a weekday. Valedictory Evensong last Thursday was a beautiful occasion and if you were unable to be present, I recommend watching the on-demand service.
