The Rector’s Weekly Messages

November 14 is Remembrance Sunday, and the choir will sing the beautiful Duruflé Requiem with its gentle Gregorian Chant themes interwoven with rich harmonies of the choir and organ.

I have returned to New York bringing many good wishes and prayers for you all from all the people I met with last week in London.

This week we have the beautiful feast of St. Michael and All Angels.

Only a few words from me this week as we have a number of lovely announcements to make.

The boys have returned to the Choir School and have begun their daily choir practice with Dr. Filsell. It is a real joy to know that we will welcome them back on Sunday when we will keep our Patronal Feast.

For some, Labor Day is melancholy and marks the end of the summer season and the shortening of days, nevertheless, for us at Saint Thomas, it also marks the beginning of a new school year and the return of our choristers.

There is so much to the life of our parish that is not obvious at all, or even hidden. With all that transpires, no one person can experience Saint Thomas Church, that goes for the clergy, too.

Father Turner announced last week that our beloved sometime seminarian, now Assisting Priest, the Reverend Sister Promise Atelon, SSM has accepted a call to serve on the clergy staff of Trinity Wall Street.
