As his farewell party is in full swing offstage, Dr. Ernest Milmore Stires, VIII Rector, reminisces about the characters and events which have shaped his 24-year ministry at Saint Thomas Church. The 1905 fire, World War 1, the founding of the Choir School. Ralph Adams Cram, T. Tertius Noble, the Vestry, the Ushers, the Altar Guild. Stires lives through it all again… until it is time to say good-bye.

Redeem the Time, a one-act play commissioned by Saint Thomas Church in honor of her building’s centennial, is given a staged reading on Friday, February 21st at 7pm in the church. Written by playwright and parishioner Lucky Gold, the play stars Father Andrew Mead as Dr. Stires, Nancy Mead as Sarah Stires, and Maestro John Scott as T. Tertius Noble. (Any similarity between past and present characters is entirely intentional!) This celebratory event is free, open to all, and will be followed by a light reception in Andrew Hall.
