For centuries now, military chaplains have been accompanying soldiers onto the battlefield. While these chaplains have served various functions depending on the era and army they served, one commonality we can safely assume is that all of them were regularly present when those they cared for faced profound suffering and confronted the depths of human evil. Join guest preacher, U.S. Army Chaplain The Rev’d Benjamin J. Newland, and St. Thomas’ Theologian in Residence, The Rev. Dr. Luigi Gioia for a conversation about how several military chaplains have engaged the problem of evil and suffering in their contexts, and learn about this unique ministry.
The Saint Thomas Theological Education Programme 2024-25 offers a series of talks on The Question of Evil and Suffering and The Theology of Healing by our Theologian In Residence, Fr Luigi Gioia. The dates and titles of the talks are available for download. The lectures will be livestreamed on YouTube and video-recorded. If you want to receive weekly updates about the programme please register online.
