Registration is now open for our 2023 September Noble Singers Choir Camp!

Choir Camp is a special day for children to come and experience music at Saint Thomas Church. We will explore singing and music together through games, classes, rehearsals, and hands on music making activities!

Come learn about our 9am parish children’s choir, the Noble Singers, and other opportunities for children in our worship and Sunday School spaces. Sit in the choir stalls and sing with our organ and learn about how music fits into our worship and daily lives at Saint Thomas Church!

All children ages 5-14 are welcome!

When and Where: Saturday, September 9 from 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

Morning

  • 9:30am – Arrive early and observe the Boy Choristers rehearsing in the Church
  • 9:45am-10:00am – Arrive and Drop-off children at the Sunday School Room on the 3rd Floor of the Parish House
  • 10:00am – Welcome/ Rehearsal #1 (Sunday School Room)
    • Welcome Games and Intro to Solfege with Mrs. K-F
    • Explore and sing our upcoming Sunday Music:
      • Saint Thomas Mass
      • Taizé Songs / Hymns
      • Anthem – Brother James’ Air
  • 11am – Break/Snack (Andrew Hall)
  • 11:15am – Dalcroze Eurhythmics Session with Leslie Upchurch (Andrew Hall)

Afternoon

  • 12:15pm – Lunch – Pizza Party in Andrew Hall!
  • 1:00pm – Organ Demo with Mr. Adach (Church & Choir Room)

Our very own organist Mr. Adach will lead a hands-on session on playing the organ!

  • 1:45pm – Rehearsal #2 (in the Choir Stalls)
    • Review what we did in the morning session.
    • Learn “You are Sealed with the Spirit” and how to sing in “canon”.
    • Sing with the organ!

Dalcroze Eurhythmics

Dalcroze Eurhythmics is a music and movement-based process that enhances one’s personal sense of timing and improves ensemble abilities. Participants in this workshop will work through basic music concepts such as pulse and phrasing as they relate to choral singing. There will be a variety of activities designed to create a fun and lively session. Choristers should wear comfortable clothing and be ready to move.
