Our Theologian in Residence, the Rev. Dr. Luigi Gioia, continues a year-long course to dive into all the main areas of theology: Faith, Scripture, Tradition, God, Christ, Salvation, the Holy Spirit, the Trinity, and the Church – always with an eye to their relevance for spirituality and for everyday life.

The narrative of creation in the book of Genesis emphasizes that Creation is good and yet tries to account for those aspects of nature, life, and relationships which are evidently dysfunctional: shame, conflicts, suffering, and death. Some Christian authors, especially in the West, formulated a theology of the ‘fall’, talked about ‘original sin’, and even affirmed the ‘total corruption’ of humanity. In our next Theology Talk we shall explore the role these ideas play in Christian doctrine, whether we have to believe them, and their spiritual implications.
