Canon Robin Ward talked to us about the British Anglican bishop and academic Edward King (1829 – 1910). From 1885 to 1910, he served as Bishop of Lincoln in the Church of England. Before his consecration to the episcopate, he was Principal of Cuddesdon College (1863–1873), an Anglo-Catholic theological college in Oxford, and then Regius Professor of Pastoral Theology at the University of Oxford (1873–1885). Bishop Edward King was widely revered as a saint in the Church of England and inspired a completely fresh understanding of what it meant to be a bishop in the Church, as pastor and teacher.

Canon Robin Ward has been the Principal of St Stephen’s House since 2006. St Stephen’s House is an Anglican Theological foundation with an affiliation to Oxford University. His initial theological studies were in patristics, the study of early Church history and theology. Since then he has taught moral theology (Christian ethics), ecclesiology (the doctrine of the Church), and sacramental theology. He is a member of the Faculty of Theology and Religion at the University of Oxford.

The Adult Education program at Saint Thomas Church offers sound Christian teaching presented with intellectual vigor, teaching that is grounded in Holy Scripture, mediated by the catholic tradition that is the inheritance of Anglicanism and set forth in the Book of Common Prayer.
