HILARY, BISHOP OF POITIERS

HILARY, BISHOP OF POITIERS

Grant, we pray, almighty God, that we may rightly understand and truthfully profess the divinity of your Son, which the Bishop Saint Hilary taught with such constancy. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever.

6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m.

This class will meet on most Wednesdays through April, studying closely the central pages of Robert W. Jenson’s Systematic Theology, volume one. In these pages, Jenson develops a systematic account of the Trinity in modern terms. ————– This class is particularly for those who want to wrestle with high-octane, serious theology; it will provide a worthy alternative, in some respects, to Thomas Aquinas. ———————- Participants will be expected to read about 10-15 pages each week outside of class. But it is not expected that participants will understand the reading! In class, we will work through challenges of the reading, in some cases going sentence by sentence. ————— For January 13, please attempt pages 63-74.
