Wulfstan of Worcester
Almighty God, whose only-begotten Son led captivity captive and gave gifts to your people: Multiply among us faithful pastors, who, like your holy bishop Wulfstan, will give courage to those who are oppressed and held in bondage; and bring us all, we pray, into the true freedom of your kingdom; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

The Rector’s Christian Doctrine Class is offered from January to May and will begin anew in January 2016. The class is especially designed for those who want to be confirmed or received into the Episcopal Church. But it is also for anyone who is interested in learning more about Christ and about the doctrine and traditions of the church, as we’ve received them.
The class will meet on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 7:30pm. Persons who wish to join Saint Thomas Church and persons who wish to be confirmed or received into the Episcopal Church, are particularly encouraged to attend. We also welcome anyone who happens to be interested in the topic of the day.
Besides this class, there are many other ways to learn about Christ and his Church. We encourage you to worship with us, study and pray with us, and make yourself known to us. Our doors are open 365 days a year (at least one Mass is offered every day) and you can contact us anytime if you are interested in learning more.
The topic for tonight’s class is: God the Son: Incarnation, Atonement and Glory. The class meets on these additional Tuesday evenings: Jan 26, Feb 2, Feb 9, Feb 16, Feb 23, Mar 1, Mar 8, Mar 15, Apr 12, Apr 19, Apr 26, May 3, and May 10. Confirmation and Reception by the bishop will occur on Sunday, May 15.
A companion text for this course is Café Theology by Michael Lloyd.
Also recommended for reading through the course is A Short World History of Christianity by Robert Bruce Mullin. Further recommended:Being Christian: Baptism, Bible, Eucharist, Prayer by Rowan Williams.
The these texts are available at the Saint Thomas Bookstore, which is open most Sundays following the 11am and 4pm services, and at midday on most Mondays.
