This Lent, join The Revd. Dr. Gillian Straine and The Rev. Dr. Luigi Gioia for a compelling Sunday Theology Conversation series exploring the relationship between faith, healing, and miracles. Through thought-provoking discussions on Jesus’ healing ministry, the intersection of faith and science, the Church’s healing mission, and the power of prayer in suffering, this series invites us to reflect on how theology shapes our understanding of health, hope, and divine intervention.

There is a distinction between curing and healing. Curing is “the strategy of destroying or checking a pathogen, removing a malfunctioning or non-functioning organ, restoring a person to health or well-being”. Healing can be defined as “the restoration of meaning to life. It is the strategy of restoring social and personal meaning for life problems that accompany human health misfortunes.” People trust medicine and science to cure their illnesses but seek healing in spiritual practices, find comfort in faith and resort to prayer. How should we pray in times of illness?
