The Tenth Sunday After Pentecost
O Lord, we beseech thee, let thy continual pity cleanse and defend thy Church; and, because it cannot continue in safety without thy succor, preserve it evermore by thy help and goodness; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. (Proper 13)

Bound within the Book of Common Prayer, the 39 Articles are more specific than the creeds, and yet, while reflecting the controversies of the Reformation period, they also have a certain timeliness. One notable feature is that, unlike the creeds, the 39 Articles go on to speak of matters pertaining to the state. Over several weeks, Father Austin will guide a reading of the Articles and give theological commentary on their continuing meaning for us.
