Saint Bartholomew
O Almighty and everlasting God, who didst give to thine apostle Bartholomew grace truly to believe and to preach thy Word: Grant, we beseech thee, unto thy Church to love what he believed and to preach what he taught; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Bound within the Book of Common Prayer, the 39 Articles are more specific than the creeds, and yet, while reflecting the controversies of the Reformation period, they also have a certain timeliness. One notable feature is that, unlike the creeds, the 39 Articles go on to speak of matters pertaining to the state. Over several weeks, Father Austin will guide a reading of the Articles and give theological commentary on their continuing meaning for us.
