Sunday Theology Talk for July 19, 2026

Dear Friends,

This Sunday, Fr. Mark Brown continues Lift Up Thine Eyes with the fifth session of the series, exploring thusia, the Greek word for sacrifice, offering, and dedication.

At the heart of the Eucharist is the self offering of Jesus on the cross, an offering we recall each time we hear the words this is my body given for you, this is my blood shed for you. Fr. Mark takes Norman Rockwell’s Homecoming GI as a starting point for reflecting on how that once for all sacrifice finds an echo in the countless smaller offerings that shape an ordinary life: the things and people we give ourselves over to, consciously or not, and the freedom we are given to choose.

• The Sunday Theology Talks take place in the Parish House, Fifth Floor room, 10:00 to 10:45 am. Please arrive by 9:45 am.
• The talks are offered both in person and online, and will be video-recorded.
