About the Artist

German organist Raphael Attila Vogl began his musical studies with cathedral organist Ludwig Ruckdeschel in Passau. At 18, he entered the University of Catholic Church Music and Music Education in Regensburg, studying with Stefan Baier and Markus Rupprecht. He later trained with László Fassang at the Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest. In 2020, he earned a Master’s in Organ Performance from the Juilliard School in New York under Paul Jacobs and was subsequently admitted to Juilliard’s Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) program.

Vogl has won prizes at the International Mendelssohn Organ Competition (Switzerland), Tariverdiev International Organ Competition (Russia), and the World Bach Competition (USA). His 2020 debut at Alice Tully Hall featured the New York premiere of Sofia Gubaidulina’s The Rider on the White Horse at Juilliard’s Focus Festival.

He has performed widely in Europe and North America, appearing at major venues such as the Berlin Philharmonic, David Geffen Hall, Marian Anderson Hall, and Overture Hall. Vogl has collaborated with leading orchestras and conductors including the Philadelphia Orchestra, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Marin Alsop, and others.

Renowned for his transcriptions, Vogl reimagines orchestral and large-scale works for organ, expanding its expressive potential. His debut album, Beyond Organ, showcases this approach with his transcription of Max Reger’s Variations and Fugue on a Theme by Mozart, as well as Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 3, presenting the organ as a virtuosic symphonic instrument.
