The Tenth Sunday After Pentecost
Grant to us, Lord, we beseech thee, the spirit to think and do always such things as are right, that we, who cannot exist without thee, may by thee be enabled to live according to thy will; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. (Proper 14)

At right: King David in the Incarnation Window of Saint Thomas Church.
Beginning June 10 and extending on Sunday mornings throughout the summer, Fr Austin guides us through the First and Second Books of Samuel. Fr Austin recommends Robert Alter’s The David Story, which is a translation with commentary by that notable literary scholar. He also recommends a commentary by Francesca Aran Murphy on First Samuel in the Brazos series of theological commentaries. However, you don’t need to read either book to enjoy the class. Bibles are provided. Simply show up for any or all class sessions.
