The Seventh Sunday After Pentecost

Almighty God, the fountain of all wisdom, who knowest our necessities before we ask and our ignorance in asking: Have compassion, we beseech thee, upon our infirmities, and those things which for our unworthiness we dare not, and for our blindness we cannot ask, mercifully give us for the worthiness of thy Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Above: An image of John the Baptist occupies the central position in the Preachers Window of Saint Thomas Church. In today’s Gospel, Salome dances for Herod, in response to his promise to give her anything, even unto half his kingdom. Read Mark 6:14-29 to understand the connection between Salome’s dancing and the head of John the Baptist.

Included in this Choral Eucharist are hymns sung by the congregation and choir, additional music sung exclusively by the choir, lessons, prayers, a sermon, and a Rite I Mass. All baptized Christians are welcome to receive Holy Communion.
